MENTORING

Take a peak at the special tribute to our mentors from the Fulfillment Fund staff at this year's Mentor Recognition Banquet!

Recognized by the Governor's California Mentor Initiative as among the best in the state, the Fulfillment Fund's mentoring services are supplemented by additional college access services. Our goal is to help young people reach their potential by graduating from high school and going on to college. Download our mentor application!

What is mentoring?
A mentor is a trusted guide who is a reliable, positive force in a teenager's life. Mentors meet monthly with their students (bi-monthly in the first three months of the relationship). Mentor-student team activities might range from Fulfillment Fund-sponsored events such as college fairs, to museum visits and community service opportunities.

The Fulfillment Fund asks for a minimum one-year commitment with the hope of building a relationship that continues through graduation. The Fulfillment Fund provides in-depth training. The only experience necessary is a willingness to build a relationship with a student. It is a relationship that changes both the student and the mentor's lives.

Who are Fulfillment Fund students?
Our students attend under-served and under-resourced Los Angeles high schools. They reflect the diversity of the school system. They choose to be mentored and are often the first in their families to attend college.

“Recently, my mentee’s cousins were talking about going bowling and they started to tease Maria about not knowing how. ‘I know how to bowl,’ Maria proudly told them, ‘My mentor taught me.’”
